Mercedes W114 & W115 Models 1968 to 1976
Treating this range of large saloons and coupes as a single model is probably the easiest way of producing a guide to their tyre fitments. There were an awful lot of models in this range, and some of them have confusingly similar names! Anyway, as a rough guide, the W114 models have 6-cylinders, and the W115 have 4. The number in each model name refers to engine size (some overlap between engine types here), D referes to diesel, C means coupe, and E means fuel injection. There was also a LWB version, with an L suffix. A very tough and stylish saloon, especially after the facelift in 1973. The Coupe versions were the same size as the saloons, just with a lower roof, and a smaller, pillarless interior.
230 & 250 (all versions) - Originally fitted with an obsolete 6.95-14 crossply, later fitted a 175HR14, 185HR14 or 195/70HR14 on wider wheels.
250C & 250CE - Originally fitted with an obsolete 6.95-14 crossply, later fitted a 175HR14, 185HR14 or 195/70HR14 on wider wheels.
280 & 280E - Standard fitment was a 185HR14 radial tyre, with the option of a 205/70HR14.
280C & 280CE - Standard fitment was a 185HR14 radial tyre, with the option of a 205/70HR14.
200, 220, 200D & 220D - The earlier models were originally fitted with an obsolete 6.95-14 crossply, later fitted a 175SR14, or 195/70HR14 on a wider wheel.
