Mercedes 'Fintail' (All models including Coupe and Cabriolet) 1959 to 1971

This guide has gathered up all the models derived from the Fintail platform because otherwise it would get complicated! Especially as the range included a great variety of models, some of which had a very long life alongside later Mercedes models.

To simplify things a bit: Mercedes released the W111 platform as a six-cylinder saloon in 1959, which is generally referred to a the 'Fintail' because it has fins; then in 1961 they released the W110 (a cheaper, 4-cylinder version) and W112 (a more expensive, 3-Litre six powered version) based on the original platform; coupe and cabriolet versions of the W111 debuted in 1961 also, and similar bodied versions of the W112 came out the following year; the coupe and cabrio models were given a longer lease of life in the mid-sixties when they got the engines from the new S-class, despite the fact the 'Fintail' saloons had been replaced. Each platform had a range of options, with different designations. It's complicated! Hopefully, the tyre guide is easier to sum up.
