Price: £0.00 - £99.99, Width: 195 | Ford Capri Mk3 280 Brooklands 1986
Run-out high-spec Capri. Manufactured in 1986. Originally fitted with a 195/50VR15 radial tyre.
The Ford Capri Mk3 was launched at the 1978 Geneva Motor Show, with 1.3, 1.6, 2.0 and 3.0 V6 powerplants to choose from. The bodyshell was much like the Capri Mk2's, but with four headlamps instead of two, while the bumpers, spoilers and grille were redesigned.
The 1600L-based GT4 limited edition was introduced in 1980; the following year there were Capri Calypso and Cameo special editions. But the car which overshadowed these models was the Cologne V6-equipped 2.8i which ousted the 3.0-litre models.
Summer 1982 saw the limited-run Capri Cabaret, then the Tickford Capri was in October 1982, with a 205bhp turbocharged 2.8-litre engine. Within months a five-speed gearbox became standard on the 2.8i and soon after on 2.0-litre cars as well. By the end of 1984 the only Capris on offer were the Laser (in 1600 form), 2.8i Special and the Tickford Capri.
December 19th 1986 marked the end of an era when the last Capri was built. The last 1038 Capris were Brooklands 280 models with leather trim, metallic green paintwork and 15-inch spoked alloy wheels.
