Price: £0.00 - £39.99, Price: £50.00 and above, Width: 5, Width: 16 | Ford Capri Mk1 (not 3 litre) 1969 to 1974

Ford's iconic coupe that you'd always promised yourself, in 1300, 1600 and 2000 engine sizes. Manufactured between 1969 and 1974. The base models were originally fitted with a 600-13 crossply tyre, which is no longer available, but can be replaced with the 165SR13 radial used on higher spec models. Ford also the 165SR13 as an option, and a 185/70HR13 tyre on a wider wheel.

Having enjoyed massive success with the Mustang after its introduction in 1964, the Capri Mk1 was Ford's European equivalent. It arrived in 1969 with 1300 or 1600 four-cylinder Kent engines or there was a 2.0-litre V4 powerplant. There were standard or GT editions, all with disc brakes, but the GT got more power, a centre console and extra instruments.

Within months there was a 3000GT with a V6 engine, a bonnet bulge and twin exhausts, then in March 1970 the 3000E arrived with a focus on luxury rather than sportiness. A raft of specials followed in 1971 including the Capri Special, 1600GT and 2000GT, with standard mechanicals and only cosmetic changes.

The Ford Capri Mk1 was facelifted in September 1972. There were 151 changes to the lighting, suspension, dashboard and seats, while there was now a bonnet bulge on all models. The 1600 Kent engine was also replaced by a 1600 Pinto unit.

The last Capri Mk1 was made in December 1973, which is also when the Capri RS3100 was introduced, but just 248 of these were officially made.
