BMW 502 2.6 2600 & 3200 1954 to 1963
The 502 model addressed the lack of power in the straight-six 501 model, by the use of a new, larger 2.6 Litre V8 engine. The body and chassis were much as the 501, with an increased level of trim and luxury to go with the added speed. BMW algain produced chassis for other companies to put coupe and convertible bodies on.
The 501 and 502 model names were replaced in 1958, with 2.6 and 2.6 Luxus, which became 2600 and 2600L in 1961.
An enlarged 3.2 Litre V8 became available in the 502 body in 1956, and this was named the 3.2 (there was a later 3.2 Super with more power). In 1961 these models becme the 3200L and 3200S.
Standard tyre fitment was a 600-15, or 640-15 crossply, with the option of a 650-15, or 670-15 in 1960. The final models (from 1962) came with either a 640-15, or 670-15.
