Profile: 80, Width: 6.70 | Bentley R Type Continental 1952 to 1955

The original, rare, and much desired Continental, was a developed version of the 'humble' R-Type, and very much a 1950s equivalent to today's BMW 'M' cars. Originally fitted with an 650-16 crossply tyre, with a 670-16 crossply option. The best radial replacement tyre would be a 670R16 or 185R16.

Working in partnership with the coachbuilder Mulliner's, a new, lightweight coupe body (with some aerodynamic concessions) was developed. This clothed an improved R-Type platform, with more engine power, different gear ratios and many more small changes. It added up to the world's fastest 4-seater at the time! Only just over 200 made though, and Bentley/RR chose to not go to such extremes with the later S-type Continentals.
